Medications' Prescribing Pattern in the General Surgery Outpatient Department

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the drugs’ prescribing pattern in general surgery department a public hospital Alkharj.
 Methodology: present retrospective included collecting data from outpatient pharmacy prescriptions Alkharj 1st June 2018 31th December 2018.
 Results: total number outpatients who received 319. Most them were males (52.35%) and aged less than 50 years (79.31%). written by residents (47.02). most prescribed medication paracetamol (21.32%) followed amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (12.85%), ciprofloxacin metronidazole (6.27%).
 Conclusion: showed that antibiotics analgesics commonly drug classes department. Continuous monitoring for these drugs is essential increase wise use medications. More awareness workshops educational programs surgeons are needed drugs.
